Training Matters Production Stills 2013

Here’s a little peek at some of the productions stills taken earlier today of one of our longest standing clients, Training Matters. We shot three separate scripts, all making use of the teleprompter set up…keeping the time required to a minimum which is great for clients. Cracking day today…nice over at Hampden too! That’s where we are for the Business50 exhibition…over 90 exhibitors (including us) and an expected attendance of over 1300! Looking forward to it!

Business50 Lunch

Not long back from a great new networking event by Business50. Great to meet some new faces, and of course also lovely to catch up with some familiar ones! Hopefully areas of cross over and plenty of chances to do business both ways! Business50 are also holding a rather large exhibition on Tuesday at Hampden…90 exhibitors in total (of which we are one) and so far 1563 delegates signed up to come along…should be a great day! It’s free to come along!

FS700 gets its first use!

We always keep up with technology and constantly upgrade and improve our equipment to make sure our clients are getting the best results with their productions. First there was the DVCAM cameras we used…over 11 years ago now. And then we upgraded to the HDV range of cameras where widescreen and high definition were becoming common place. Our industry is now at another cross roads…the DSLR Video market. This is essentially filming video on a small stills camera…which due to SLR technology achieves a far higher quality and depth of field than traditional video cameras could ever hope! In all honesty we were seriously considering going down the same route…but I’ve never been comfortable shooting on a stills camera…plus it also has many limitations. After a good bit of research, Sony have released a range of very impressive NEX HD cameras…including the very tasty FS700. It uses the same technology as the SLR’s with interchangeable lens to suit, whilst also having the major benefits of being a dedicated video camera. The bottom line…astounding results. These units are far more expensive as a result of what they can do…but that does not affect costs to our clients. Astounding video production does not have to cost the earth!

Contingency Plans at the ready?

The weather is playing havoc with the equanimity of organisers of the Loch L8Mond challenge this Sunday…it’s an exercise in patience and hope that the weather will allow the 8 mile swim to go ahead.

Swimmers are counting down the last days, kayakers and support teams are at the ready. Updates zing into the Inbox on a regular basis and the excitement is building!

All eyes are on the Met Office. All our thanks is with the people who have already donated to Cancer Research UK. All our best wishes are with the swimmers!

If you want to come and support the guys, it’s byob barbeque; the swimmers will be starting off at 10 and crossing the finish line about 1pm – but the barbeque will be gearing up around midday, so come along and get involved – hopefully the only snags will be on the barbie!

Epilepsy Scotland launch Ctrl+T campaign

Young adults with difficult epilepsy/learning difficulties need special support; Epilepsy Scotland intend to use their website to signpost help and support available for these young adults and their families/carers in each local authority and NHS board.

In a new campaign called Ctrl+T, Epilepsy Scotland will:

Help families and young people be as prepared and informed as possible
Ensure sufficient and appropriate information is available so timely choices can be made for the young person’s future
Signpost the help and support available so that young adults, their families/carers are more in control.

Ctrl+T will be launched at an Epilepsy Transitions Reception at the Scottish Parliament on Wednesday, 21 September, at 6pm.

Epilepsy Scotland, on behalf of the Joint Epilepsy Council, and event sponsor Richard Simpson MSP will host this Epilepsy Transitions reception. The Cabinet Secretary for Health Wellbeing & Cities Strategy will address the meeting of over 50 guests and MSPs. There is an Any Questions, Any Answers session and a DVD case study showing one young person’s experiences in transition.

There is also the opportunity to get girly to support Epilepsy Scotland – find yourself a bargain at the LK Bennett shopping event, where you can support this great cause and also get 20% off! There’ll be drinks, nibbles and LK Bennett stylists on hand to give you top tips on what’s in and what’s not, as well as being treated to a fabulous fashion show!
